The exterior of the new National Stadium integrates Japanese-ness with multilayered “eaves.”

새로운 국립 스타디움의 외형은 일본식의 여러겹의 처마를 통합하였다.

 

Eaves are a component of traditional Japanese architecture, an established structure rooted in the Japanese climate.

전통 일본건축의 구성요소인 처마는 일본의 기후에 유래되어 구조적으로 생겨났다.

 

They contribute to creating environmentally friendly architecture by blocking sunlight and bringing a pleasant breeze to the stands.

 

해를 막고 기분좋은 바람을 끌어당기며 자연친화적인건축을 만드는데 이바지했다.

 

Furthermore, in order to blend in with the rich greenery of the Meiji Shrine’s Outer Garden, the stadium height is minimized and the eaves are vegetated with native species.

뿐만 아니라, 스타디움의 높이를 최소화하고 처마들은 토착초목들이어서, 메이지신사외곽의 공원의 풍성한 녹지와 잘 어울린다.

 

The large, flat roof is cantilevered, consisting of frames about 60m-long made of domestic wood and steel.

국내 목재와 철재로 만들어진 약 60m길이의 구조를 포함하고 있어 평형지붕은 더 큰 캔틸래버가 되었다.

[Improved thermal environment for the stands by utilizing wind]

바람을 활용한 스탠드 온도환경 개선

 

“Kaze no Obisashi (grand eaves of the wind)” improves the thermal environment of the stands and field by effectively bringing in seasonal wind, while removing the heat and humidity from inside the stadium through the top.

“Kaze no Obisashi (거창한 바람의 처마)” 스타디움 내부를 통해 지붕까지 열과 습기를 제거하면서, 효과적으로 계절성바람을 끌고와 스탠드와 필드의 온도환경을 개선한다.

 

The spacing (opening ratio) between the lattices on the eaves varies according to the direction of the building.

처마 위 가새사이의 간격은 건물의 방향에 따라 다르다.

 

The south-southeast side is narrower to capture the summer breeze and direct it to the stands, whereas the north side is wider to divert the wind in the winter and direct it inside the roof.

 

narrower :더 좁게 whereas : 반면 divert : 우회하다

남남동 쪽은 여름바람을 스탠드로 잡기 위해 좁게, 반면 북쪽은 겨울에 바람을 우회시켜 지붕안으로 향하게 하기 위해 넓다. 

 

 

[Seeking superior structural performance and workability]

우수한 구조적 성능 및 작업성을 추구하다.

 

In order to achieve superior quality and durability within the limited construction period, the cantilevered roof and stands are constructed of a simple steel frame, made of the same structure repeated in the circumferential direction.

 

achieve : 성취하다 durability : 내구성 circumferential : 원주형

건설기간이 짧아도 우수한성능과 작업성을 얻기 위해, 캔틸래버 지붕과 스탠드를 간단한 철제프레임으로, 원주형방향으로 반복해서 같은 구조이다.

 

Precast materials were heavily used for the foundation and spectators’ seats.

 

Precast materials : 프리캐스트(미리 만들어진) 재료 spectator : 관중

프리캐스트 재료들은 관중들의 좌석과 기초를 위해 무겁게 사용되었다.

 

Employing a *soft-first-story damping structure, the soft lower level with*oil dampers effectively absorbs earthquake energy.
